The name NIVEA was inspired by the Latin words “nix” and “nivis” meaning snow. The original brand is owned by Germany company Beiersdorf which debuted its signature NIVEA Crème in 1911. In 1971, Beiersdorf and Japan’s Kao Corporation jointly created Nivea-Kao Co., Ltd. to produce NIVEA products that are made in Japan. Building on its success, the joint-company set up its own laboratory in Japan in 1986 to adapt NIVEA products for the Japanese market. Since then, Nivea Japan has continued to develop innovative skin care products that cater to different skin types
